🌝🚶♀️Weekly Wednesday Wellness Walks
Date: May 6, 13, 20, & 27, 2026.
Summary: With the beautiful weather it feels as if summer has come early, wonderful for the Wednesday Wellness Walks. Walking in the dark is now a distant memory, but it was still enjoyable and simply revealed a different landscape.
Spring has brought to St Nicholas Park Striking yellow Iris’s around the Kingfisher Pools, Frogs in the grass, a Thrush that was eager to draw us away from the undergrowth and some of us stood very still and close to a Heron that didn’t seem to mind our presence. All delightful experiences to welcome the changing season.
We meet every Wednesday at 7pm by the steps of the Café in St Nicholas Park in Warwick for a reflective rather than an exercise walk. We amble around chatting or not, each of us walking as we choose. The park is generally full of other groups, walking, exercising, playing tennis or walking their dogs so we’re never completely alone. Why not come and join our women only group one evening and see how you feel.
To mark the success of Warwick being awarded a Bee Friendly Town in 2025, a series of Wild Bee Houses have been erected in the local Parks and Public Gardens. On our Wednesday walk we visit the Bee House in St Nicholas Park and plan to visit Priory Park Bee House too.

This month we featured this amazing woman:
📢🖼️🚺 WSO has the Mayor’s support!
Finally, the outgoing Mayor of Warwick, Jackie D’Arcy had included Women Stepping Out as one of her charities to support during her Mayoral year.
A cheque will be presented to the charity during a Wednesday Wellness Walk later in the year, for which are delighted and extremely grateful.

👩🎨🖼️🎨Jenny Davis
We are delighted to spotlight Jenny Davis, director of Arts uplift, an organisation who uplift’s peoples health and wellbeing through the power of the creative arts. Whose passion for creativity and community has transformed lives across Coventry and Warwickshire.
When we asked Jenny to say few words about organisation and what inspired her to get involved she said, “Arts Uplift CIC is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. As a Community Interest Company, we bring creative health workshops to isolated and vulnerable adults across Coventry and Warwickshire. Our sessions—singing, arts and crafts, movement to music, film-making, and mindful photography—help participants feel physically and emotionally better while connecting with others. We also create powerful performances and exhibitions with health messages, like our dementia awareness play Navigating Margaret.”
“These experiences build confidence, teach new skills, and give people a way to express themselves through art. For me, the arts have always been transformative. Growing up, drama and performance shaped my life, and I became passionate about using creativity to help others. In today’s tech-driven world, Arts Uplift brings people together in person—over tea and biscuits—for the human connection and creativity they need.”
“Starting Arts Uplift from scratch has been a rewarding journey. Today, it’s a respected and beloved creative health resource in our community. To anyone with a dream, especially women: take that leap of faith—it’s worth it.”

😧💷Scams and Fraud Awareness
We have a featured speaker each month and “Scams and Fraud Awareness” was our Talk this month given by Hazel Smyth of Home Instead. Hazel Smyth, highlighted how scammers operate, how to recognise warning signs, and practical steps we can all take to protect ourselves, our families, and vulnerable members of our community in today’s world. This was an interesting and informative talk, sometimes shocking learning the millions of pounds lost and the age groups being caught out- young people 16- 25yrs and the over 70yrs old.
Awareness is our best defence. Our sincere thanks to Hazel Smyth for delivering this valuable community event.

Our Talk in June is called, ‘Space for Grief- Beyond ‘Moving On’ A Modern Look at Living with Loss’
😇🕊️✌️Warwick Festival of Peacebuilding
Our first local festival presence of the year was at the Warwick Festival of Peacebuilding on Saturday, 9th of May, in the College Garden between St Mary’s Church and The Butts. It was a glorious day and this quiet beautiful oasis in the centre of Warwick was busy with entertainment and stalls. We raised awareness of our charity through our charity Founder’s talk, visitor engagement at our stall and through multiple craft activities.
We will continue to do so through our presence at the Warwick Pursuits Festival and the Leamington Peace Festival on the first and second weekends in June.
